In all of web based business, if there’s one truism to hold on to, it’s that the front page of a web site HAS to perform.

Whatever the whole site’s purpose may be, the front page simply has to perform well to make the whole apparatus work as intended.

And let’s be clear: there HAS to be one singular purpose for every page on your web site, but most of all the front page. If you want people to stick and drill further into the site, you’ve just got to make the front page clear, understandable and actionable.

Don’t know what that means? Fine, I threw together a video on a very interesting financial services startup’s site, called Scred.com. I guess that comes from Street Credit, or something clever like that.

Five main points to make to get this started:

One purpose per page!

Headlines matter more than you think!

Show, don’t tell!

Capture email!

End everything with an exclamation mark!

Okay that last one’s a joke. No, really. You can test it if you’re a maniac but it was a joke.

So get a load of this:

Even though front page cleanup, optimization and repurposing is a fairly easy task when you know the real objectives and tools available, it is still one of the BEST things you could possibly do to further productize your web site.

If you want to know more about front page transformation, or book a phone call with moi, peep on over here and read the whole shebang.

Ta ta!

I’m just passing the baton here, TechCrunch did the honors here.

But briefly put, what we find here is this:

If you want to make the most money, target Joe Sixpack who uses Windows and drives a Volvo.

NOT the uber geek type who uses a Mac or Linux, and drives a trendy Toyota Prius.

Why is that such a truism?

Well, just take a look at these glorious stats from the TC article:

So the Internet Explorer types click more on ads...

And for more evidence, we present…

And the Microsoft types buy more, too?

Frankly, this is such simple knowledge that I almost didn’t post it (and we covered this a bit before already).

But the simplest things often create the most profits, so do take a closer look.

Just remember this: when you choose your product strategy… when you choose your marketing method and message… in every important juncture… do not forget who your main audience is!

And no, it’s not people like yourself. Almost without exception, it’s Joe Sixpack and his closest friends and family.

IF maximum profits is what you’re after.

There are so many plays to be had. As in Plays for the Playahs. Yah mon.

I’ll predict the next two years will see a wild run in mobile-related e-commerce… for those who understand it.

For an appetizer, check out this video I made. Think it’s safe to say… you haven’t seen THIS before.

Por favor:

So there you have it.

The ugly truth and the beautiful profit potential laid bare before you.

Better that than me, eh eh…

So get ready for some more Mobile Pimpin’! See yahs!

You know how storytelling is really the heart of ALL powerful marketing, right?

That it’s intrinsic to marketing that works, on a gut level?

And how telling relevant stories to your market helps nurture a relationship with your prospects, that helps you sell products more than just about anything else?

IF YOU DO, then you’re going to love the selling power of this following technique.

I’ve seen a few really smart marketers use a cool new service called Whrrl in very creative ways.

Whrrl creates powerful pictorial stories on the go!

Take a look at an example, to get an idea first (click on the picture to see the slideshow):

More stories at Wal-Mart

Powered by Whrrl

As you can see, the way this works is basically post a few photos and comments, to form a quick slideshow or feed.

WHY would you want to do this?

The point is, dear grasshopper, to pre-sell your audience on whatever it is that you’re selling.

ESPECIALLY if there’s a specific type of lifestyle or experience associated with it.

In those cases (which is pretty much everything when you think about it), this type of pre-selling works incredibly well!

Let’s take a few examples of what you could do with this:

Tell the story of a consumer experience you had (as in the example above)

A pictorial from your client’s premises (or your own office)

Show & tell from your seminar experiences

Even your personal vacation!

So this is what you do. When you want to endear your audience to you, and show them either something useful or experiential.

If you have an opportunity to tell a great, relevant story to your customers, do it fast with Whrrl without having jump through all the rest of the hoops.

Do NOT underestimate the power of Visual Storytelling to Pre-Sell your customers on just about anything!

Get started with their easy tutorials over here.

PS. There’s also a free iPhone app available so you can do it immediately, as IT happens. Go for it!
